New toy or game-changer? Millions of people are using ChatGPT as an entirely normal part of their daily routine. The success of the large language model has surprised many. IT service provider adesso asked decision-makers at German companies about their expectations and experiences with AI, their plans for the future and how they see the technology developing. The verdict? AI is coming, and there isn’t much standing in its way.

IT service provider adesso is continuing its expansion to the UK by establishing a branch in London. Including the latest national subsidiary, adesso UK Limited, adesso is now represented in 14 countries around Europe, taking it one step closer to the goal of establishing itself as a leading IT service provider Europe-wide. The UK subsidiary will initially focus on supplying companies in the UK with attractive near-shore and offshore offerings from the adesso Group’s global supply network.

In its consolidated financial statements, adesso SE has confirmed the preliminary figures for 2022 that were published in mid-February. Group sales grew strongly again year on year, lifting the total figure by 33 % to a new record of EUR 900.3 million. Of that growth, 29 percentage points were organic. Accordingly, EBITDA stood at EUR 92.9 million (previous year: EUR 102.0 million). Excluding the non-recurring effect of EUR 17.9 million from a company sale in 2021, operating earnings (EBITDA) rose by 10 %. In addition to the capacity utilisation delays caused by the high pace of growth, as well as investments in corporate culture and infrastructure, significantly higher rates of sick leave in 2022 following the wide-scale lifting of COVID-19 protection measures prevented a greater increase in EBITDA. At 10.3 %, the EBITDA margin fell slightly short of the target corridor of 11 % to 12 %, whereas EBITDA and sales forecasts were achieved or exceeded.

IT service provider adesso is expanding its lottery business into the North American market for the first time: The consulting and software development company – headquartered in Germany and with around 60 other locations in Europe – becomes a member of the North American lottery association NASPL (North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries). NASPL membership marks the starting point for the rollout of the technology and consulting portfolio to the U.S. and Canadian markets.

The international IT service provider adesso is now offering a comprehensive SAP and cloud portfolio through the adesso Group for projects in Hungary. The activities of the adesso units already represented in the country are being merged into a joint business organisation. This will provide companies with comprehensive support for transitioning IT landscapes to SAP S/4HANA and cloud technologies. Thus the digital transformation and process optimisations will be supported by a broad selection of measures and implemented using new technologies.

For the second time since 2020, adesso has been named Germany’s Best Employer 2023 in a cross-industry competition organised by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The honour comes in addition to the title of Germany’s Best Employer in the ITC sector, which it received on 9 March, and is a sensational win for adesso. The IT company was presented with the 1st place award in the size category over 5,000 employees at a ceremony in Cologne yesterday evening. The repeat of 2020’s double victory underscores adesso’s efforts to maintain a strong and attractive employer brand.

IT service provider adesso has embarked on strategic cooperation with AI specialist Aleph Alpha. Through its program Luminous, the Heidelberg-based startup offers a multimodal AI language model that can be used to process complex texts in combination with images. As an integration partner, adesso supports companies in implementing this AI solution in their business processes.

adesso has won a Best Workspaces Award 2023 for its new office in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The Best Workspaces Award is an international architecture prize for smart working environments and office spaces bestowed by a panel of experts headed by the architecture publishing house Callwey. IT service provider adesso received this year’s commendation for the interior design of its new Berlin offices, which were designed by the Düsseldorf-based interior design firm raumkontor Innenarchitektur in collaboration with adesso. It is not the only current award for office design at adesso. adesso Munich also wins an award.

IT service provider adesso has already opened its third new office in Germany this year – following the two branches in Siegen and Kiel. The new Ulm office will close a supply gap in southern Germany and extend the adesso axis of Munich-Augsburg-Nuremberg to the Baden-Württemberg state border. adesso will be occupying three floors of the office tower at Magirus-Deutz-Straße 17 in Ulm. With over 7,500 employees (FTEs) across Europe, the adesso Group is on a steep growth trajectory and is aiming for revenue of around one billion euros this year for the first time in its almost 26-year history.

For the fourth time, IT service provider adesso has taken first place in the Great Place to Work® competition, as Germany’s Best Employer in the ITC sector, for providing excellent working conditions (size category: over 2,000 employees).
