Three use cases for generative artificial intelligence in production
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to turn the way we work today completely on its head. For years, companies across various industries have been working to implement machine learning, deep learning, and other AI-based algorithms to analyse large datasets with self-learning systems and solve specific tasks through pattern recognition built on that foundation. Since the end of 2022, the hype surrounding generative AI, or GenAI for short, has acted as an additional catalyst for this trend. Increasingly, manufacturing companies are also allocating budgets to create the resources needed for the implementation of practical AI solutions.

Start collecting data now!
By Volker Gruhn, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and founder of adesso:
No data, no AI. This basically sums up what many companies are currently experiencing. What they would actually like to achieve is data-driven working and using AI applications to deal with such issues as the shortage of skilled labour, supply chain disruptions, and other urgent problems. However, once it comes to implementing specific initiatives or projects, many realise that they do not have the data required. In this respect, a German SME based in Swabia is impacted just as much as a global player with hundreds of sites.

More space for “New Work”: adesso holds celebrations to mark its move to the Seetor City Campus in Nuremberg
adesso SE, one of Germany’s leading IT service providers, moved into its new premises at the Seetor City Campus in Nuremberg last June. As an anchor tenant, the digitalisation partner to prominent public and private-sector organisations occupies an entire section of this high-profile area. In doing so, the company is highlighting the relevant role it plays in Nuremberg as a business location and metropolitan region. Thanks to steady customer growth in recent years, the number of adesso staff employed in Nuremberg has increased substantially. Employees from virtually all divisions of adesso SE and its key subsidiaries are now working at the site. The new subsidiary now provides them with significantly larger and more modern office space, workstations and meeting rooms spanning an area of around 4,500 square metres. By expanding its operations in Nuremberg, adesso is laying the ground for further growth in the region.

GenAI in day-to-day work: top management forges ahead, but employees are hesitant
Although generative AI (GenAI) is now firmly established in day-to-day working life, managers and their staff have very different views on how it should be used, what is expected of it, and what the benefits are. This is confirmed by the updated and expanded GenAI study by IT service provider adesso, in which a total of 778 managers and employees from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) participated. While top management is already used to working with these tools, the rest of the workforce is often more hesitant.

Moving towards the future together: LVM chooses adesso as its digitisation partner
adesso has secured another major contract in the insurance industry. The digitisation partner to a large number of insurers and financial service providers is assisting LVM Versicherung, one of the 20 largest primary insurers in Germany, in setting up a brand new data environment. The project aims to migrate the existing heterogeneous data and analytics landscape onto a standardised data platform. The partners in the project are using Microsoft Azure Cloud as the underlying technology. Established working methods and processes are to be transformed and digitised at the same time. The core principle behind this is a public-cloud-first approach. In future, only data that LVM is not permitted to store externally will be retained in its own data centre. The project is part of a triple-phase project. The first phase commenced on 1 September 2024 and will run for three years. It includes the provision of the new platform and the establishment of new processes and collaboration models. In the subsequent phases, innovative applications will be developed based on the new platform and gradually rolled out to the business areas.
