Eliminate system discontinuities, increase transparency regarding quantities, throughput times and material movements in production and reduce manual effort in production planning and control: Together with us, Gebr. Becker GmbH is developing a target image that offers considerable savings potential through a modern IT architecture and system landscape for integrated production planning and control (PPS for short) and significantly increases efficiency across the entire end-to-end PPS process.
Development of a target image for production planning and control
Gebr. Becker GmbH
Project
Highlights of the project
0 System breaks in the fully automated planning and control process
50 % Savings potential through new process
12 defined sub-projects in the roadmap for implementation
2 Expansion stages of the system landscape in the technical target image
Holistic process mapping
The detailed mapping of the end-to-end PPS process, from rough-cut planning in the ERP system to detailed planning and production control in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), ensures seamless integration and standardised control.
Future-proof IT architecture
A visionary PPS blueprint and a detailed implementation roadmap enable the gradual and successful introduction of the new PPS system landscape and architecture at all production sites worldwide.
Automation and reduction of manual labour
The development of an integrated PPS architecture significantly reduces manual effort through system support with a savings potential of up to 50% of the previous effort and eliminates system breaks, which significantly increases the overall efficiency of production planning and control.
Goals and results
Future-proof PPS blueprint
The rollout to all production sites and a defined procedure with specified expansion stages enable a structured and successful introduction of the new processes and systems through a future-proof PPS blueprint.
End-to-end PPS process
The data-based, efficient and transparent planning and control of production is made possible by an end-to-end PPS process that ensures an optimised and continuous production chain.
Modern IT architecture and system landscape
The system integration between SAP and MES serves as the basis for subsequent IoT, AI and cloud expansions and is part of a modern IT architecture and system landscape.
Elimination of system discontinuities
An optimisation and savings potential of up to 50 percent of the effort across the entire process is achieved through the availability of data, the elimination of system discontinuities and the significant reduction in manual maintenance effort.
Our services
Technologies used
- SAP (SAP modules PP and embedded PP/DS)
- Production data acquisition (PDA)
- Machine data acquisition (MDA)
- Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Basic setup and implementation of IoT, AI and cloud extensions
Next steps
The process developed in the project will be implemented in production in a joint follow-up project. To this end, the integrated PPS process will initially be introduced in pilot areas at two production sites. For the implementation, the leading systems, the SAP and the MES, will be configured, the planning process steps and the interface will be mapped in detail in the system, and the data collection and evaluation will be implemented.
Founded in 1885, Gebr. Becker GmbH is today a leading international, owner-managed manufacturer of vacuum and compressed air technology. Around 120,000 devices and systems leave the factory every year. With a high level of innovation, state-of-the-art production technology and future-orientated, strategic investments, the dynamically growing family business stands for a long-term and fair partnership.
