DFB GmbH concludes agreement with IT service provider adesso: adesso be-comes Strategic Partner of the Business Unit IT & Digital of DFB GmbH

adesso will support the topics of transformation and digitalization as a strategic partner of the IT & Digital division of DFB GmbH. The key parameters of the partner-ship were defined in a framework agreement with DFB GmbH, which has been con-cluded for the next four-and-a-half years.

The partnership with DFB GmbH marks a continuation of adesso’s passion for IT and sport. As a strategic partner of the IT & Digital division of DFB GmbH, adesso will accompany DFB GmbH in terms of digital transformation until the end of 2025, following various individual pro-jects in the past years. The German football association has pooled its financial activities and digital business units, which encompass Marketing & Sales, IT & Digital and Events & Opera-tions segments, in a separate subsidiary since 2017.

In the IT & Digital segment, the DFB GmbH provides in-house applications and services that are used by the DFB’s own departments, state and regional football associations and more than 25,000 football clubs nationwide. IT & Digital also takes care of the DFB’s technical infra-structure and in-house software DFBnet, which offers a comprehensive IT solution for organ-ising and managing the association’s operations.

As a first task, adesso will assist in the further development of FUSSBALL.DE, the platform for news, match schedules and results of amateur soccer in Germany, and help develop a new online application for the “Torhüter Portal”. This DFB project involves collating and analysing performance data of the country’s best goalkeepers and identifying the most promising talents in this position in Germany. The aim is to pinpoint and support future professional footballers and continue to ensure that Germany produces world-class goalkeepers for its national teams.

Dr Frank Biendara, Managing Director of DFB GmbH, negotiated the deal: “This is the first time DFB GmbH has concluded a strategic partnership of this nature with an IT service pro-vider. The competent, reliable and trustworthy collaboration with adesso that we have experi-enced in individual projects over the past few years was a crucial factor in our decision. Be-sides IT consulting and service, adesso will also help us recruit IT experts for development, business analysis and project management.”

Volker Gruhn, founder and Supervisory Board Chairman of adesso, has been strengthening adesso’s ties with the world of sport for many years now. He is particularly happy about the company’s latest coup: “It is an honor for us to now also accompany DFB GmbH as a digiti-zation partner. We take great pride in our IT expertise helping to develop and promote football in Germany with innovative applications and consulting services.”

Oliver Schobert, Chief Sales Officer, is responsible for adesso’s key accounts: “At adesso we have shown that we have an in-depth understanding of the intelligent link between sport and technology. Professional sport is becoming increasingly digital, and means of optimisation through the application of IT solutions in an AI, analytics and BI context – such as for coach analysis tools – are becoming more and more refined. adesso is highly proficient in these in-struments and has a range of state-of-the-art methods and concepts that can benefit sport and sport management.”

So far, the highlight of adesso’s sporting engagement has been the partnership with Borussia Dortmund, where adesso is not only digitalisation partner, it is also the main sponsor of the club’s youth teams and the recently launched women's team. adesso also works closely to-gether with Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the head coach of the German women’s national foot-ball team. Voss-Tecklenburg has been a key ambassador for the adesso initiative “She for IT”, which aims to increase the number of women working in IT professions, for over two years. In addition, adesso is also a shareholder and development partner of sport streaming service Staige, formerly known as AISportsWatch and soccerwatch.tv. Staige offers live broadcasting solutions for amateur sport using an intelligent, AI-based camera system.
