Potsdam-based start-up Resility won over investors following the successful start-up phase earlier this year with a number of pilot customers. Brandenburg Kapital GmbH, subsidiary of the investment bank of the German federal state of Brandenburg, and inQventures GmbH, a start-up incubator of IT service provider adesso, have invested in the fledgling start-up under the stewardship of the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).
On Resility’s business idea: According to the „Shared Responsibility Model“ customers are responsible for the necessary security and management configurations of cloud services and these configurations must be made actively. Without a cloud security solution such as Mitigant, customers are usually reliant on the assistance of cloud security experts. The cloud provider is only responsible for the infrastructure. Mitigant helps customers of all sizes to configure their cloud services in line with best practices by directly recognising cyber-attacks and actively closing potential security loopholes through secure chaos engineering, even in complex environments. The solution can be integrated via API in just ten minutes and means that companies no longer require specialist cloud security experts to protect themselves from cloud-based attacks.
A majority of the funds provided by the three investors will go into the future development of the cloud security solution. In addition to Amazon Web Services, the solution is set to cover Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud services. Furthermore, the partners’ investments are to be used to expand the team and facilitate international growth.
“Mitigant has set itself the task of making cloud infrastructure safe and resistant by deploying a state-of-the art continuous security verification concept,” said Kennedy Torkura, co-founder and CTO of Resility. “We look forward to helping more companies safeguard their public cloud in the future,” said Nils Karn, co-founder and CEO of Resility.
Frank Reinecke, Principal at High-Tech Gründerfonds, cites a number of reasons: “I invested in Resility because the solution addresses a problem that is impacting many companies with cloud-based infrastructure on the market at the moment. The solution is unique and intuitive and the team has exactly the right expertise to develop Mitigant further and position it on the international market.”
