With news, tickets, a shop and a range of services for fans, the BVB website is the centre of the digital world for last season’s Bundesliga runners-up. The homepage is set to be relaunched in 2024 so that it can continue meeting the rising demands of online visitors in the future, featuring a brand-new black-and-yellow theme, user experience and interface. BVB.de will become a central online hub for fans and visitors from all over the world and host a wide variety of easily accessible multimedia content. The site, which will be known as the ClubHub, will act as a gateway to the world of Borussia Dortmund, offering fans all the information they need about the club as well as news, articles and content from external partners.
adesso is supporting the eight-time German champions on their way to becoming digital pioneers. After completing a joint strategic project to develop an improved user experience and vision for the website, adesso and BVB moved on to the technical preparations and implementing the first templates back in May 2023. The main phase of the relaunch strategy is currently underway. Besides technical and creative expertise, Dortmund-based adesso also brings a wealth of valuable industry experience to the table in the form of Maurice Sonneveld, Head of the Sport Competence Center. Sonneveld has successfully managed multiple website relaunches in his time as chief digital officer at two other Bundesliga clubs.
“Our website has grown over the years in parallel with our users’ needs,” says Alexander Mühl, Borussia Dortmund’s Director of Marketing and Digitalisation. “Our aim in switching to Adobe is to offer all our fans, members and sponsors the best digital experience. And with adesso on board, we have the right partner to offer an online presence fit for the Champions League.”
“We are very pleased to realise this project in partnership with Borussia Dortmund,” says Julia Schaper, Project Manager at adesso. “With its new technology stack and attractive design, BVB.de is sure to be popular among the club’s fans and other visitors.” With the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), adesso and BVB are laying the groundwork for all digital touchpoints. adesso’s experts in front-end development, UX conceptualisation and user interface design are executing the relaunch strategy in partnership with Munich-based software company eggs unimedia GmbH.
