adesso opens office in Kiel

adesso is continuing on its growth trajectory by opening a branch in Kiel in northern Germany. After Neumünster, this is the second adesso office in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and the company’s 32nd location in Germany overall. The new office in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, reflects the IT service provider’s continuing commitment to its strategy of locating itself where customers need support with digitalisation and a good supply of young, highly qualified IT talent is available.

adesso celebrates the opening of its new branch at the Kiel Science Park today. An initial group of 35 employees at this location will support a range of customers, in particular public authorities, with their digitalisation projects. Another key focus of the new office will be SAP projects – an area in which adesso’s SAP consultancy, adesso orange AG, has already been active in the region for many years. The employees from adesso orange AG will now work alongside adesso’s new staff at the site in Kiel. The teams will occupy one floor of the Hermann-Kobold building in Kiel, sharing a total of 350 square metres of office space.

The German states of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offer adesso a market with growth potential as the region has so far been without an established IT service provider. adesso’s aim is for the new location to boost the economy in northern Germany as a whole and keep it competitive through the provision of IT consulting services, software development and IT solutions. Like the other adesso locations, the new office stands to benefit from being part of the adesso Group’s powerful network, which currently employs over 8,300 people at more than 50 sites throughout Europe.

In addition to the proximity to public authorities in the state capital and to corporate customers, the short distance to the renowned Christian Albrechts University of Kiel was also crucial in the choice of location. adesso works closely with the university on a number of projects, one of which saw over 60 students develop an app to enable digital civic engagement in the summer of 2022. Some of them were recruited as working students at the new location to give them practical experience at one of Germany’s largest IT service providers at the same time as studying.

Michael Bartoli has been appointed manager of the adesso location in Kiel. While setting up the new office and recruiting the initial workforce, he has also been head of the software development competence centre in the Public division since early 2022. Bartoli himself studied at the Wirtschaftsakademie (business academy) in Kiel and then worked in the city, and he now wants to share this experience with other graduates as well as highly qualified professionals. “Kiel is gaining an attractive employer in the form of adesso. The company will enable students as well as young and experienced professionals to continue developing their skills by working on exciting IT projects in the up-and-coming coastal region,” he says.

Michael Bartoli takes over the site management for the new adesso office in Kiel.

“I am convinced that our extensive portfolio of services will allow us to quickly hit the ground running in Kiel and the surrounding area,” Bartoli adds. “Public authorities in particular have significant digitalisation needs. In addition, many private-sector firms are looking for advice and support to help them drive forward digitalisation projects more quickly and mitigate risks.”

New office: adesso has moved into one floor of the Hermann Kobold House in Kiel's “Wissenschaftspark” (Science Park).
