The new federal BIM centre of competence is a collaborative project with a total of 18 partners, led by planen-bauen 4.0 GmbH. In the future, it will act as a central hub for digitally supported tenders and the awarding of public sector construction projects, and will cover all aspects of the planning, construction and use of structures. It will be based on the state-of-the-art building information modelling (BIM) standard.
Digital BIM models allow cooperation between various actors in construction – including contractors, architects, structural engineers, planners, construction companies and service companies – to be managed more efficiently, faster, and more economically. The BIM standard also allows new technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics and 3D printing, to be used effectively in construction projects.
Under the leadership of the planen-bauen 4.0 GmbH initiative, adesso will have specific responsibility for setting up and maintaining the new BIM portal, which includes a database of asset information requirements (AIR), the respective testing tools and BIM objects. The total of six different work packages will be delivered by 17 further project partners. They include quality controls for, and coordination of, BIM activities, the development and implementation of norming and open-BIM strategies, the preparation of requirements and benchmarks, and the development of related training concepts.
