adesso acquires OrgaTech SEC GmbH and strengthens process industry segment

adesso has acquired a 100 % stake in OrgaTech Solution Engineering Consulting GmbH (OrgaTech SEC), a company specialising in providing process industry expertise. The new addition will allow the IT service provider adesso to strengthen its capabilities in process engineering and technology in the manufacturing industry segment. The acquisition will also give adesso clients access to consultancy and software services to help them optimise their approach to process engineering and technology going forward.

OrgaTech Solution Engineering Consulting GmbH , or OrgaTech SEC, a certified software company and consultancy firm, is viewed as a digital pioneer and proven specialist in industrial service and maintenance. For more than two decades, OrgaTech SEC has been providing the process industry with business and process consulting in the fields of sales, logistics, maintenance and facility management from its home base in Lünen, Germany. The company currently employs a staff of around 30 people. The process industry extracts and transports raw materials and processes them using chemical, physical or other technical methods. The industry includes companies from the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and gas sectors.

The acquisition and planned merger of OrgaTech SEC GmbH with adesso SE will give adesso access to OrgaTech’s client base, which includes respected multinationals such as Bayer, Covestro, Deutsche Bahn and Evonik. The OrgaTech SEC team will be transferred from their previous home base in Lünen to the „Process Industry & Engineering“ (CC) at adesso’s headquarters in Dortmund. Julia Lorei, an authorised signatory at OrgaTech SEC, will head up the CC. Bernhard Kurpicz, the founder of OrgaTech and its current managing director, will take on the role of Director Business Development for Process Engineering and Technology at adesso’s new Competence Center.

By fully acquiring OrgaTech SEC GmbH, adesso also gains access to its products. In combination with adesso’s expertise, the market stands to benefit from promising new potential applications, such as the proactive servicing and maintenance of industrial machinery, systems and facilities thanks to the smart use of measurement and production data. Going forward, adesso will be able to provide ultra-efficient predictive maintenance by combining its IoT platform with OrgaTech’s CALATENA integration solution.

The support of the OrgaTech SEC team will enable adesso to leverage its expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and big data analytics to offer sophisticated, smart solutions for added value in the process industry, including intelligent, IoT-based access authorisation for industrial facilities for inspection, service and repairs. Predictive maintenance helps boost productivity on a lasting basis, reduce disruptions and downtime, cut maintenance costs and extend machine run times.

Bernhard Kurpicz, the founder and managing director of OrgaTech SEC, is active in industry bodies such as the DIN Standards Committee Service (NADL) and the 4.OPMC e.V. network. Thanks to his involvement in the efforts to standardise service specifications (DIN SPEC 77229), he plays a leading role in developing new standards for this industrial sector. Kurpicz looks forward to the continued growth of OrgaTech SEC as part of the adesso Group and the doors that the new structure will open: “The future membership of our team in one of Germany’s leading IT companies is a fantastic opportunity for us as specialised engineering experts and will allow us to expand our sphere of action. Many user companies in the process industry see IoT and smart products as essential applications for their industry – ones that will be a major factor in determining their economic and financial futures. One huge advantage for our clients is that their contacts and the processes they have come to expect from our company will remain the same thanks to the full transition of our team to a dedicated Competence Center at adesso.”

Since then, he has been following the development of OrgaTech SEC: “We appreciate OrgaTech’s excellent maintenance expertise in the process industry. Together, we will now expand these offerings in the manufacturing sector. Starting immediately, OrgaTech SEC’s specialised process engineers and our IoT and analytics experts will work together to pool their knowledge of predictive maintenance and so much more in order to offer our clients convenient, integrated and cost-saving solutions on the shop floor.”
