The conclusion of this project also constitutes a first for adesso: This is the first time the IT service provider has made an insurance company’s entire applica-tion landscape and IT architecture available in the Amazon cloud in Germany.
As the initial product from the new digital insurer, companies and businesses are now able to purchase and take out a liability insurance policy online. In the coming months, andsafe will continue to expand its portfolio with further products for commercial customers.
Provinzial hired the insurance IT specialists within the adesso Group – adesso insurance solutions GmbH – as the general contractor for this ambitious large-scale IT project. They oversaw all activities in the development of the new insurance business within the framework of a one-stop shop model.
The adesso team also comprised the digital business experts from the adesso subsidiary ARITHNEA and the hosting specialists from adesso as a service. Thanks to their combined efforts all business processes can now be handled on the new platform, from initial contact to customer consultation and service through to the conclusion of contracts.
Within the scope of its overall responsibility, adesso insurance solutions also took care of the provision and set-up of the back-end systems. This included the supply of software components from its in|sure product family for the areas of policy management, claims management, product management, collection/disbursement and commission as well as partner management. ARITHNEA contributed its expertise for the creation, design and development of the front end. adesso as a service will take over the operation of the platform.
Oliver von Ameln, Managing Director of adesso insurance solutions, outlines the special challenge that this project presented: “We set up a complete application landscape in the cloud for a new insurance company. Basically, an out-of-the-box insurance infrastructure à la plug and play. We provided everything from a single source, from the back-end implementation to front-end design all the way to the hosting.”
Provinzial selected adesso as part of a tender process: “We were looking for an experienced all-rounder for the development of our digital commercial insurer that could offer the necessary specialist and technological leadership. adesso has a wide range of products and solutions in all the relevant areas of technology and was able to offer us the IT services we needed from a single source. adesso’s willingness to assume overall responsibility for the technical and creative implementation was an important selection criteria for us,” says Dr Thomas Niemöller, Executive Director for IT at Provinzial NordWest.
