Pragmatic IT Project Management: Managing Software Development Projects with the help of the PMBOK® Guide
adesso paper to the book of the same title wins Best Paper Award at PM Summit 2010
On the project management conference of PMI Chapter in Munich on 15 November 2010 adesso was awarded the Best Paper Award for its paper on the approach “Pragmatic IT Project Management“.
The adesso conference paper is based on the book „Pragmatisches IT-Projektmanagement: Softwareentwicklungsprojekte mit dem PMBOK® Guide führen“(Pragmatic IT Project Management: Managing Software Development Projects with the help of the PMBOK® Guide) of Niklas Spitczok von Brisinski (adesso AG) and Guy Vollmer (FH Dortmund). The authors developed an approach based on the PMBOK guide which seamlessly integrates the requirements engineering as well as all relevant processes in software development. The result is a pragmatic approach without redundancies that completely concentrates on clear and direct specifications. This method combines those aspects and elements that are of practical relevance in software development with the approved contents of the guide and divides the processes into a phase model which is also ready for iterative use. Additionally, it refines rough process descriptions concerning their precise development and makes them directly applicable for the operative use.
In analogy to the book title “Pragmatisches IT-Projektmanagement“ the abbreviation of the approach has been named PITPM. The PITPM book has been published in July 2010 at dpunkt.verlag.
